Shepparton United may have unveiled a suite of signings to their football side last week, but recruiting has continued across both codes, with its netball department catching potentially the biggest fish yet.
But Mooroopna’s loss may not be as large as the hole in Kyabram’s leadership ranks following a duo’s league switch.
Mooroopna young gun Claudia Plattfuss has made the decision to switch to the Demons for the 2026 season, departing the Cats for the Skene Street end of Deakin Reserve.
The 18-year-old has already represented the GVL at senior interleague level, as well as under-17s.
A talented goal attack and shooter, Platfuss worked in tandem with The News’ team of the year member and high-volume scorer Ash Lancaster, averaging 11.5 goals per game under her wing, including a season-best 27-goal game in round three against the Shepparton Swans.
The teenage prodigy is a key recruit for the Demons who fell just one game short of finals in 2025.
Meanwhile, Kyabram has suffered the loss of two revered netball figures, as Kyabram District League club Lancaster has announced its new co-coaches for A-grade in 2026.
This season’s Bombers’ skipper Jemma Hall and co-coach Rhiannon ‘Raz’ Hilton will be the pair to lead the Wombats next season.

Hall, a fierce defender, has captained and been a playing coach at Kyabram, skippering the side in 2025, while Hilton co-coached the Bombers this year, and boasts an esteemed resume by previously leading the club to multiple premierships.
Hilton’s departure comes after the Bombers awarded the coach with life membership at this year’s club best and fairest.
Picola District League side Waaia has also announced a new coach for its A-grade netball side, picking up former Nathalia star Jessi Hicks.
With a focus on player development, the appointment of Hicks aims to instil skills into a youthful group, as the Bombers look to build on a 10th-placed finish in 2025.
