Week after week, Bill collected bags of rubbish, bottles, wrappers, and discarded items, keeping the roads around his vineyards neat and welcoming.
The Rutherglen Rotary Club has proudly continued this community task since Bill’s passing.
At their most recent working bee, club members collected an entire ute-load of rubbish, ranging from bottles and takeaway containers to a discarded mattress.
Rutherglen Rotary Club members doing their bit to keep the area clean.
Club members say they are simply carrying on the good example Bill set, and encourage everyone to play their part by disposing of rubbish responsibly.
They say roadside litter is everyone’s responsibility, that keeping the district clean is a practical way to show pride in Rutherglen, and that a clean roadside is part of the welcome extended to visitors in this special part of the world.
Rotary invites the community to join future working bees, or simply to honour Bill’s legacy by ensuring no rubbish is left behind.
Together, locals and visitors can help keep Rutherglen looking loved.
