In what began as a joke, Levi Pichler decided to commit to the bit and dye his hair pink while donning a suit during the youth group’s recent op-shop ball.
The money raised will go towards jumpers branded with the youth group’s logo, which Levi also designed.
“No-one’s missing out, we’re all getting jumpers. I’m happy about that, and hopefully there’ll be leftover money for another event,” he said.
“Some people can’t afford jumpers, so I got (my hair) done to subsidise them.”
Levi has also been busy getting involved in the Kyabram teen takeover at the library, and has joined Campaspe Shire Council’s Youth Action Group.
A young advocate, he is interested in seeing more youth-oriented spaces in town and lowering the cost of driving lessons while increasing participant safety.
“I’ve talked to a few kids, and that’s a pretty recurring thing: more safe places for people to go and hang out at that are free, specifically for rural areas,” Levi said.
“Car driving lessons are expensive ... you can’t get a job if you don’t drive, and if you don’t have a job, you can’t pay for your car lessons.”
In the meantime, Levi will be enjoying the compliments he has received for his new hair, which is expected to stay pink for the next few months.
