At the Rugby Victoria 2025 Awards, Shepparton Bulls star Samuela Waqarerevaki was named player of the season for a second time in three years, with the three-time Bulls’ premiership star cementing himself as one of country rugby’s best.
Waqarerevaki also starred in the Victorian Barbarians Country squad's thrilling 27-19 victory over Tasmania, breaking a long-standing drought and etching their names in interstate rugby history.
Shepparton mentor Moronae Silaga lent his expertise as Head Coach of the team, etching his name into the history books as a senior representative match winner.
It was also a proud night for the Silaga’s at the Rugby Victoria Awards, with Moronae named Coach of the Year.
Mellisa Silaga's tireless behind-the-scenes efforts were doubly honoured, as she clinched both the prestigious Women's Rugby Development Association Ann Nicholson award and the Rugby Victoria Volunteer of the Year title, underscoring her vital role in the sport's growth.
The accolades are proud recognition for the Bulls trio, but it was also a successful post-season run from the Shepparton Eagles.
After the magical men’s and women’s premierships at Glenrowan Reserve, the Eagles attended the Goulburn Murray Premiership’s Awards Ceremony to determine the individual accolades for the 2025 season.
All-conquering women’s captain Deborah Fili, who topped the competition point-scoring, created history, becoming a back-to-back winner of the Player of the Year award on the back of a stellar campaign.
She was unsurprisingly a lock for the 2025 Team of the Year, joined by rising star Fofoa Tulimafono and coach Matt Lammon.
Shepparton’s back-to-back men’s premiers were also recognised, with four players and coach Fili Fili included in the Team of the Year.
Vaai Liufau, Jopu Tunumafono, Ratu Volavola Jnr, and Joejo Delainauluvatu joined their coach in the side.
