Established in 1958, the Shepparton Senior Citizens Club is a cornerstone of the community, with more than 100 members.
President Kerry Miller said the milestone was about more than cake and music.
“It’s a valuable community group that alleviates isolation,” she said, encouraging more locals to join.
Last year’s celebrations were cancelled when the Victorian Electoral Commission used the concert hall, but this year members made up for it in style.
The committee prepared a full spread in the club’s commercial kitchen, with the birthday cake from Fiore’s Bakery Café.
Live music from internationally acclaimed country performer Craig Giles had the dance floor buzzing, with members and guests celebrating milestones that included a 65th wedding anniversary.
Interest in Giles’ performance was so strong that the club extended the concert to the wider public, while still giving members priority.
Adding to the celebrations, long-serving member Shirley Egan was inducted as a life member, joining only two others — 99-year-old Yvonne Austin and Sylvia Campbell.
“It was a very special event,” Mrs Miller said.
