On Saturday, September 6, Transition Tatura presents ‘Communities Shaping the Future: Turning Point’ at the Mechanics Institute to engage the community in discussions about energy transition and environmental sustainability.
Now in its 12th year, this event has evolved beyond its humble beginnings as a short film showcase into a full day of speakers, live music, films and practical demonstrations.
This year’s program is no exception.
One of the key highlights will undoubtedly be Tatura native and climate scientist Dr Linden Ashcroft.
In her presentation, Dr Ashcroft will present insights on climate change impacts in the Goulburn Valley, followed by GV Community Energy chief executive Geoff Lodge guiding attendees through the region’s ongoing energy transition efforts.
No environmental initiative would be complete without some trash talk.
A session called ‘What Rubbish Goes in What Bin?’ will feature a live rubbish sorting demonstration, offering practical advice on waste sorting to reduce confusion and encourage sustainable practices within the community.
Supported by Zero Carbon Tatura and GV Community Energy, the event aims to turn the tide toward a more sustainable future for the region.
‘Communities Shaping the Future: Turning Point’ is on Saturday, September 6, from 9.30am to 3pm at the Mechanics Institute, 75 Hogan St, Tatura.
Adult tickets cost $30 plus a booking fee, with free entry for children under 16. Door sales will be available for $35.
