The Shepparton South Rotary Club will host its first Young Picasso Art Competition and Exhibition next month at Sacred Heart Hall, Shepparton.
Open to all students from Year 4 through to Year 12, the event spans painting, drawing, photography and mixed media.
More than $3000 in cash and prizes will be awarded across the age groups, alongside the $1000 Ken Keating Scholarship for a Year 12 student.
Shepparton South Rotary Club’s Clay Doyle is calling on young creatives to pick up a brush, a pencil or a camera and get involved.
“This competition and exhibition are aimed at showcasing young artists, and with substantial prizes on offer, we’re hoping to see plenty of entries from across both primary and secondary schools,” Mr Doyle said.
Judges include local artists Greg Beckenham and Tank, with selected finalists also having the chance to display their work at Tank’s gallery in Corio St following the event.
Mr Doyle said the event had received strong backing from the community.
“We’ve had fantastic support from our judges, local businesses and sponsors,” he said.
“We particularly want to thank Ken Keating Transport, Black and White Fencing, Kim O’Keeffe, SMR Legal and Artco.”
The exhibition will run on September 20 and 21, from noon to 5pm at Sacred Heart Hall, Knight St, Shepparton.
Students from Years 4 to 12 can register at sheppartonsouthrotary.org or by contacting Clay Doyle on 0468 858 984.
Whether you’re a parent with a talented child or an art teacher with a classroom full of them, this exhibition is their chance to shine — a celebration of the spark every young artist carries within.
