Fourteen community groups across Nicholls will share in more than $130,000 through the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell said the funding would support small but significant infrastructure projects that helped strengthen local communities.
“These grants may be modest in size, but they’ll have a big impact,” Mr Birrell said.
“They support a wide range of community priorities — from sport and disability access to history and civic improvements — and will help get much-needed projects off the ground.”
Mr Birrell said his office received dozens of applications, highlighting the demand for regional support.
“The program was oversubscribed, which shows just how much need exists in our local towns,” he said.
“It’s a clear sign that the Albanese Government must do more to invest in regional communities.”
