A rainy weekend has marked the start of a forecasted wet and warm winter.

Rain started falling in Shepparton just after 9pm on Friday, June 6 and finished at 10.30pm, seeing 1.2mm fall.
It started again at 5pm on Saturday, June 7 and wrapped up with a total of 11.6mm of rain at 3am on Sunday, June 8.
Shepparton’s next rainfall began at 10am on Sunday, the gauge receiving 8mm by 2.30am on Monday, June 9.
Across the weekend, Shepparton Airport recorded 20.8mm of rain, while Kerang received 25mm and Arcadia scored 24mm.
Strathbogie received the most in the region, being soaked in 46mm of rainfall, with Saturday alone getting 26mm.
Meanwhile, blizzard conditions were swirling at Mt Buller to kick off the 2025 winter snow season.
