An Uber driver was allegedly assaulted and had his vehicle stolen in an alleged carjacking in Mooroopna North on Friday, June 6.
Police said two teenagers ordered the Uber and when they got to their destination in Mooroopna North, they allegedly assaulted the driver and took his SUV about 5.15pm.
Police allege the boy and girl then went on a joyride around Mooroopna, Shepparton and Kialla in the green Great Wall Haval.
The SUV allegedly reached speeds up to 150km/h before the pair were arrested by police in Shepparton at 7.40pm, police said.
Several people called 000 and told them they had seen the vehicle being driven erratically, police said.
A teenage boy was charged with carjacking, unlicensed driving and driving at a dangerous speed, and was remanded in custody to appear in a Children’s Court later in June.
The teenage girl was charged with carjacking and unlicensed driving, and was bailed to appear in a Children’s Court at a later date.
