Two students’ lives were transformed on Friday, May 23.
During a visit to the Education First Youth Foyer, Soroptimist International of Shepparton contributed $5000 to support two female students currently residing at The Foyer.
“These young people are unable to live at home and don’t have a stable place to live to achieve their education goals,” Soroptimist Jill Pinner said.
“(This funding) is for the benefit of their education and help towards achieving their goals.”
Managed by Berry Street and Beyond Housing Network in partnership with GOTAFE, The Foyer provides safe housing for 40 people aged 16 to 24, promoting career aspirations and employment opportunities.
The Shepparton Soroptimists gained insight into these efforts during a tour of the facility.
Led by team leader Matt Jobling, they observed the living spaces, programs and other vital work being done to assist local youth.
The experience was both eye-opening and heartwarming, especially when the Soroptimists saw the elated expressions on the students’ faces upon learning about the donation.
“This is what we work for, and we get tremendous satisfaction hearing young women appreciate our efforts and see rewards,” Ms Pinner said.
