The Greater Shepparton City Council is hosting a Royal Cat Adoption Day at the Greater Shepparton Animal Shelter on Saturday, June 14, offering reduced adoption fees to help find homes for over 40 cats and kittens.
The event, inspired by the King’s birthday, will run from 10am to 2pm at 125 Wanganui Rd, Shepparton.
Adoption fees have been reduced to $30 for cats over 12 months old, while kittens are available for $100.
“Cats make wonderful companions for people of all ages,” council manager environment Sharon Terry said.
“It is important to remember that adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment requiring care and responsibility.
“Adopting not only changes the life of the cat you adopt, it also helps the shelter to have more space to receive more animals in need.”
All cats have been vet checked, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and treated for worms and fleas.
Prospective adopters can view available cats online at shepp.city/adopt and complete the pet adoption questionnaire before attending.
No appointments are necessary for the event.
Visitors should bring a carrier to transport their new pet home, or purchase one from the shelter on the day.
