In 2015, Nicole lost her mother-in-law Sally to breast cancer and that same year, her partner Scott lost his battle with brain lesions.
Last year, Nicole’s two closest friends Meredith Prentice and Michele Berry were diagnosed with cancer.
On Thursday, May 29, Nicole will shave her head at Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club’s Biggest Morning Tea to help raise money for the Cancer Council.
“I decided to shave my head not only to raise funds for those affected by cancer, but to create awareness for early detection,” Nicole said.
“I’m doing this for everyone – the people who have lost their battles, the people who are going through theirs, and the people who have just started and all of their families.”
To join Shepparton’s Biggest Morning Tea and see Nicole shave her head, tickets can be purchased from the club for $10.
The morning kicks off at 10.30am and anyone wanting to donate can do so here: Cancer Council Victoria - Raise it 2 Shave it
In the lead up to next Thursday’s shave and the Biggest Morning Tea, there will also be an online silent auction through Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club’s Facebook page.
The silent auction prizes include straws from two Melbourne Cup winning greyhounds —c Hard Style Rico (valued at $2,200) and Yachi Bale (valued at $2,000).
All money raised will go to the Cancer Council.
“This is the Shepparton club’s second year running a Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea; last year we raised $2,000,” Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club manager Carl McGrath said.
“We are proud to host Nicole and her shave at the club and in turn, do our little bit for two of our participants and their families who are doing it tough.”
