With a cast of 35 talented students and a heartwarming message that resonates across generations, this beloved musical promises an unforgettable theatrical experience.
The show runs for three enchanting nights: Thursday, May 22, Friday, May 23, and Saturday, May 24 — with all performances beginning at 7.30pm at Riverlinks Westside, Mooroopna.
Directed with passion and flair, the production will feature beautiful costumes, impressive sets and upbeat musical numbers that will transport audiences into a fairy-tale world.
The show runs for 150 minutes and tickets are $20 for all attendees, available right up until showtime on Saturday night.
Helen Janke, the director and a key figure behind the show, shared her excitement,
“It’s a very well-known play and has such a great variety of roles,” she said.
“The costumes are beautiful, and the story is just so magical.”
She highlights a powerful moment in the show where Cinderella challenges the tradition of mocking others at a royal party.
“There’s one scene where they’re playing the game of ridicule, which they used to play at the parties, and then Cinderella comes forward and says, ‘How about kindness?’” she said.
The production also gently explores social themes
“There’s a message about the segregation of the rich and the poor — and how, in the end, they all come together to become one inclusive, happy town.”
This year’s production boasts fabulous sets sourced from the Bendigo Theatre Company, enhancing magical scenes such as the famous transformation.
“I’m really looking forward to the audience seeing the horse and carriage come out — it’s going to be very special,” Ms Janke said.
Leading the cast are Olivia Jackson as Cinderella and Austin Telford as Prince Topher. Olivia, a seasoned performer, has been acting since Year 5 — making this her 12th production.
The cast includes around 35 students from Years 7 to 12, who have worked tirelessly to bring this classic story to life.
With amusing dialogue, great vocals and memorable characters, the show is set to charm audiences young and old.
“Don’t miss your chance to experience the magic,” Ms Janke said.
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella is ready to delight with every twirl, song and sparkle.
Tickets: $20. Available until Saturday night at the door or online
