Headlining the action is a tantalising top four clash between Tatura (third) and Seymour (fourth), clearly the two best performing sides outside the unbeaten duo of Euroa and Shepparton.
Kings Park will be a bubbling cauldron to contest which of the 4-1 sides will make it to five wins.
It’s almost impossible to see who hops out unscathed, either.
Seymour boasts a fearsome shooting combination, with tenacious goal attack Ellie Fuhrmeister and rangy shooter Ruby Martin tallying 218 goals between them after five rounds.
Smart movers Casey Adamson, Rosie O’Sullivan and Lucy Zotti pack the midcourt, while stone wall defender, 2023 Wellman medallist Sarah Szczykulski, patrols the circle at the back.
But when talking defence, no side does it like Tatura.
The Bulldogs have the league’s best record when it comes to protecting their own post, conceding 179 goals — 39 fewer than the next in Shepparton United — with Molly Boyle holding court in the semi-circle.
Where Tatura has the potential to come unstuck is in its attacking approach, with Charlette Gray (148 goals), despite rising to prominence, the side’s sole threat under the ring.
All factors considered, it’s like splitting hairs to pick a winner in this game.
There’s another match of that ilk approaching Saturday too, with Shepparton United and Mooroopna — two sides circling the top six with different trajectories — set to meet.
Hosting side Shepparton United, revitalised after a lean few seasons, has found rhythm and confidence under Shinea Sali’s regime.
Recruit Abby Gilmore, whose baseline drives and cool finishing have elevated United’s attacking third, has forged a sturdy bond with goaling partner Hannah Onley (244 goals combined).
The Demons have been building quietly but steadily and Saturday presents their best opportunity yet to stamp themselves as more than just finals hopefuls.
One player welcoming the challenge with open arms is Shepparton United’s young centre Montanna Burke.
“I am very excited for this game; it's going to be really good,” Burke said.
“Honestly, I have no idea who's going win and to be honest, I'm just there to rock up and just do my best, show what I’m really about and hopefully the end result shows.”
Meanwhile, Mooroopna enters the contest with a hatchet to bury.
Once a perennial powerhouse, the Cats have shown glimpses, but lacked consistency on the results front, dropping games against the top two in the past fortnight.
It’s been a tricky road to manoeuvre, but if any team can reroute it’s Mooroopna.
With experienced hands like defensive general Dayna Williams — whose ability to read the feed and create turnovers in the goal circle remains elite — the Cats are far from a spent force.
Veteran shooter Ash Lancaster with her trademark hold and rangy baseline work, will also be pivotal.
This isn’t just a mid-season match-up.
It’s a pulse check for two clubs at a crossroads — one on the rise, one searching for its groove — with finals ramifications written all over it.
In other matches, Echuca aims to turn its form 180 degrees when taking on Kyabram, while Rochester seeks to do the same against Benalla.
Finally, Euroa hosts Shepparton Swans, while Shepparton hits the road for a long trek to the High Country, meeting Mansfield on its home court.
