A two-day professional development program for artists presented by Shepparton Art Museum will take place on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18.

Shepparton Art Museum will host Art as Business, a comprehensive two-day professional development program aimed at boosting business skills for regional creatives on May 17 and May 18.

The program will feature intensive panel discussions and workshops covering crucial business aspects, including accounting, copyright, communication, artwork installation and grant writing.

Leading industry figures including artist Beci Orpin, Lowenstein Arts Management director Evan Lowenstein, and Regional Arts Victoria grants manager Amelia Kingston will conduct the sessions.

Ahead of the main program, a free networking event will be held on Friday, May 16 at La Trobe University's Shepparton campus.

The event will include a panel discussion on regional arts, featuring SAM artistic director Danny Lacy, Regional Arts Australia director Ros Abercrombie, Live Art Benalla director Tegan Nash and artist Cameron Robbins.

“We're excited to offer this fantastic series of workshops and talks to our community and help support the development of our region's creative practitioners, SAM head of engagement Gabriella Calandro said.

“This program brings together experts in finance and arts management, artists' rights, marketing and communications and leaders from major arts institutions to present a comprehensive program that addresses the key challenges faced by Victorian artists.”
