Colourful names, gaudy get-ups — a frisbee frenzy took over Shepparton Sports City at the weekend.

Top-tier teams of disc tossers from across the country descended on the region for the Division 2 Australian Flying Disc Association Championships from April 11-13.

Sides such as Zesty Chilly, Manly Margies and the Turbo Chooks went toe-to-toe on the fields in an attempt to do their badge proud on the big stage.

Sunday’s open final was a thriller played between Wollongong-based outfit Krank and Geelong Mudlarks, which the former emerged 11-10 victors.

Meanwhile, the women’s final was a similarly close contest as Wollongong Surge beat out NSU Aurora 12-10.

News photographer Rechelle Zammit swung by on Friday to snap shots of the women’s match between Brisbane Fuse and Manly Margies.
