A lot of parents are worried about their kids using social media, but feel powerless to push back against tech giants.
An online survey opened on Wednesday, October 9, aims to give parents, teachers and young people the opportunity to share their experiences and concerns about social media use.
Groups can also participate through self-guided discussions, using an online guide.
The survey is part of the Victorian Government working with the Federal Government and other states to introduce age limits to try and protect kids from social media.
However, age limits aren’t the only issue, with online safety also being a major concern.
That’s the aim of Safe Socials, a new social media safety program that will be created based on feedback from the survey.
It will eventually be delivered in schools across the state as a resource for students, teachers and families about how to navigate social media.
The survey will be open until Friday, November 1, and can be found at engage.vic.gov.au/safesocials
