Chinese New Year roars into Shepparton

A big, bold, colourful lion roared into Shepparton's Tirana Walk on Saturday, February 8 to ring in the Chinese New Year.

Lion dancers from Bendigo Chinese Association performed a traditional dance at the Shepparton shopping mall to celebrate the Year of the Rat.

Red envelopes were handed out to children to donate gifts to the lion, which then blessed the Chinese-owned Shepparton Family Restaurant in Tirana Walk.

Goulburn Valley’s Chinese Association has put its official new year celebrations on hold until the coronavirus threat has subsided.
