Founded in 1962 by the local community, the centre is dedicated to maintaining and showcasing the region’s history through its extensive collection. Its mission is ‘Preserving the Past to Inform the Future’.
The centre’s collection contains over 9000 items, including tools, machines, horse-drawn vehicles, and materials from local industries. It also has over 4000 documents and a collection of local photographs and negatives.
Recently, the centre acquired bound newspaper editions of The News from the early 1800s, highlighting the importance of its mission.
