Brett whacked an unbeaten 102, including eight fours and six maximums, alongside Tim Belford (84 not out) to help his side post 1-198 in wet and blustery conditions, with the match shortened to 18-overs a side due to rain.
In reply, Kyabram managed just 7-131 from its 18 overs in Tallygaroopna on Thursday night.
Brett brought up the milestone with just a few balls remaining in the innings, and said he hadn’t been aware how close he was to the ton.
“I didn’t think I was that close until some of the boys yelled out that I was four runs away,” he said.
“I tried (bringing it up with a six) but it was a two in the end.
“It was nice to get a few away.”
He said not only was it his first T20 ton, he hadn’t cracked three figures in one-day games either.
Brett was full of praise for Belford, who hit 10 fours on his way to an unbeaten 84.
“Tim batted really well, it worked nicely actually, I was hitting them well early and then he took over and hit them through the middle and I took over a bit at the end,” Brett said.
“There was a bit of rain about and it was a bit windy ... so we made them bowl with the wet cherry.”
Harvey Walker finished with 2-24 from four overs to be the pick of the bowlers for Northerners.
In the other completed game, Bailey Smith took all five wickets for Numurkah to finish with 5-20 from three overs, but it wasn’t enough to get his side over the line in an 11-over a side affair.
Tatura’s 5-82 proved too much for Numurkah (7-66) to reel in.
All other games were scrapped.
