Greater Shepparton City Council will attempt to negotiate rather than force the acquisition of land at Verney Rd, Shepparton, for an extension of the shared path network.
The land is currently owned by AusNet.
At the December meeting, councillors voted to allow the council chief executive Peter Harriott to negotiate a sale of the land and engage an independent valuer.
The new shared path would run adjacent to 280 and 300 Verney Rd, expanding the existing shared paths north of Warrumbungle Dve to the proposed Anglican school at 320 Verney Rd.
The land the council wants to secure is a 5.81-metre-wide strip of land along the eastern boundary of the properties totalling 1969 sq m.
