Much-respected RSL member Alan Ould has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, which is the highest award the organisation can bestow on its members.
The award was for 75 years of service to the RSL as well as to his community.
Roland’s remote control aircraft – a model activity
Alan is a World War II veteran who first joined the RSL in 1946.
The Benalla RSL sub-branch had planned a ceremony to celebrate his achievements and formally present this medal, however, because of COVID-19 restrictions this had to be postponed.
Alan's son Robin presented the award at Royal Freemasons, Benalla, where he now resides.
A place for veterans young and old
A more formal ceremony is being planned for a later date - keep an eye out in The Ensign for that, as and when it can happen.
