It will engage in weekly food collections, transforming its office into a hub of hope where essential food items are readily available for community members in need.
Amid challenging times, the CVGT Employment team recognised the urgency to address the pressing issue of food poverty.
Shepparton Workforce Australia assistant manager Bella Jafer said with times being so tough, the organisation knew it needed to do more.
Partnering with Shepparton FoodShare, a charitable organisation dedicated to rescuing and receiving donations of fresh and nutritious food, CVGT Employment Shepparton has taken significant strides to alleviate food insecurity.
The donated food is thoughtfully packaged as complete meals, easing the burden for recipients, who can rely on these provisions without the worry of needing additional items.
“Rice, milk and pasta go really quickly so we make sure we get a lot of those items,” Ms Jafer said.
“We’ve made sure people feel safe to collect items that they need.”
In addition to providing essential food items, CVGT Employment Shepparton is donating clothes as well.
This initiative enables individuals to browse and select clothing that aligns with their needs.
CVGT Employment Shepparton manager Tara Wright said it was heartening to know that the organisation’s most vulnerable participants could have a warm meal at night.
“By taking this step, we’ve placed our heart where it truly belongs — with the community,” she said.
