The Demons were able to run over the top of Mooroopna in the final quarter to seal a hard-fought 11.7 (73) to 7.9 (51) triumph.
With a narrow six-point lead at three-quarter time, United went on to kick four of the last five goals of the match in the round-four encounter.
United coach Rob Osborne was over the moon to see his charges add another win to the column.
“Absolutely, the boys have worked really hard, but they just haven't been able to get the reward,” he said.
“So it was nice to see them get a bit of reward on Saturday night.
“I thought our ability to not create turnovers, our attitude around the contest and being able to play our style all contributed to our final quarter.”
Under the bright lights at Deakin, star ruckman Shane Neaves was pivotal across the ground while Henry Kerinaiua starred on the wing.
The Dees’ forward duo Elliot Cavallaro (five goals) and Ed Adams (four) enjoyed strong outings and were credited for their hard work.
Mooroopna was unable to replicate its stellar finish in round three, where the Cats stormed home to defeat Tatura.
Nathan Basile led the charge for the away side, while Dom Gugliotti, Isaac Dowling and Dean Smith all battled hard with commendable performances.
Saturday night was also an exciting moment for United fans to get a glimpse of the future.
A host of United's next generation of classy talents were on full display.
Murray Bushrangers’ quartet Kade Chalcraft (one goal), Bowen Calogero, Jhett Cooper and Fergus Pinnuck all dazzled on the big stage, along with fellow rising star Liam Serra.
With the appearances of the NAB League talent limited throughout the season, Osborne was delighted to see the next crop making their mark at senior level.
“It's great to have talented youth in the senior side,” he said.
“You don't often get to see them play during the season with Bushies but it was special for the club to have them out there.
“I thought they all performed really well.
“And it was nice to see Bowen and Liam out there making their senior debut. They both had impacts and they have got plenty more senior footy ahead of them.”
● Looking ahead to next weekend, United will host a red-hot Echuca outfit.
While Mooroopna returns back home to take on the Shepparton Swans.
