The Apprenticeship Factory chief executive officer Paula Ryan met with participants and coaches from Goulburn Murray's Football Academy Program on Friday, April 23, to present a cheque of $3000.
The grant will go towards the sponsorship of 16 Indigenous and multicultural players to participate in this year's program.
AFL Goulburn Murray commercial and operations manager Zara O’Keeffe said she was "so thankful" to have received the grant from The Apprenticeship Factory.
“Without their assistance, a number of these players would not have had the opportunity to participate in this fantastic program,” O'Keeffe said.
“Which each year helps kids grow not only with their skills on the field but also in their own personal development”.
The Football Academy runs at least 10 sessions with players in 16 and under age groups each year, providing high-level coaching, performance personnel and education around health, wellbeing and diet.
This year, the academy has collaborated with experienced coaching groups and strength and conditioning coaches to help roll out the program.
Ryan said the group had supported local communities since 1986.
“Our Giving Back to Community fund allows us to support a variety of projects in the region,” she said.
“We are so pleased to provide AFL Goulburn Murray with this grant to ensure local kids have the opportunity to participate in such a worthwhile program”.
