The well attended Dawn Service will be back again from 6am at the Memorial Wall at ClubMulwala, with assembly at 5.45am.
The Dawn Service will be followed by a “Gunfire” breakfast at 7am at ClubMulwala for those attending the Dawn Service.
The Mulwala ceremony will be held a little later on with assembly at Hicks Butchery at 9.15am for march off at 9.30am with a service to be undertaken at the Memorial located at Old Mill Road.
Assembly for the Yarrawonga ceremony will be outside the old fire station in Piper Street at 10.45am for march off for the 11am service at the War Memorial in the Belmore and Piper Streets’ roundabout.
In Tungamah the service will begin at 11am at the war memorial/epitaph. Those marching are asked to assemble on the corner or Barr and Spry at 10:50am.
Moira Shire Council Administrator John Tanner AM is encouraging all Shire residents to take time on ANZAC Day to remember the sacrifice and undertaking by all Australian service personnel on behalf of the nation.
“Since the landing of our troops on the Gallipoli Peninsula on April, 25 1915 our soldiers quickly became known as ANZACS, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day,” he said. “Many Regional Victorian service people, and especially those in the Moira Shire, were part of this. “We must never forget them and all those who have served in all the wars and conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
“We must take time on ANZAC Day to reflect on this and on those who gave their life on behalf of the nation.”
Councils will be represented with a great number of people also to lay wreaths.
Two days before on April 23 the Lake Rowan service will be held at 9.30am with a bus leaving from Yarrawonga at 9am for the service. From Lake Rowan the assembly will move on to St James which will hold their usual service before a lunch is included.
Before heading back to Yarrawonga the assembly will also visit the Wilby Hall which erected new signage assisted by the RSL Sub-branch in recent times.
Services will also be held at Karana Aged Care and Woods Point throughout the week.
