Young stars shine in V-Line Cup

The AFL Victoria V/Line Cup is in full swing after two days of competition in Shepparton.

Some of the best under-15 boy and girl footballers in Victoria are carving up the local footy grounds and the region's best have finally joined in on the action.

Local outfits Goulburn Murray One and Two took to Deakin Reserve yesterday when they challenged Richmond's Next Generation Academy (NGA) sides.

However, some local talent had their allegiances tested.

Included in the Goulburn Murray squads are six Richmond NGA members from the Greater Shepparton area, making the region comfortably the Tigers’ most prolific NGA talent area.

Yesterday Valo Valoia, Andre Briggs and Jayden Armstrong played in Goulburn Murray Two's match, while Manny Laulu, Kydan Atkinson and Ashtyn Atkinson represented the first division side.

News photographer Rodney Braithwaite was on hand yesterday at Deakin Reserve to capture all the action.
