Clean-up work is well and truly underway at Rotary Park Wirima in Rochester, with hopes it will reopen soon.

The park felt the full brunt of the floodwaters in October, which swept across the town.

It has been closed since then, while work to remove flood waste and repair the damage is being completed.

In an update last week, Campaspe Shire Council said the flooded mulch had been removed and replaced by new mulch.

New timber is also being installed, sanded and resealed, with work to replace plants, turf and sand.

The Campaspe News visited the park last week and saw the work being done.

Crews were replacing timber slats, repairing rocks and tidying the area to ensure it is back in perfect shape.

The park is currently still closed, but Campaspe Shire Council said it was expected to reopen this weekend, on Saturday, December 24.
