With round one just around the corner, Dookie United looks to be well positioned in its quest to return to finals this year.
Dropping out of the top six in 2019 after its first finals win in the Kyabram District League in 2018, the Thunder are hoping to boomerang back into the mix when football returns.
With a solid playing group back on the park, leading the charge in his first season at the club is senior coach Daniel Burness, a former coach at Picola District Football eague club Katunga.
“Training has been going really well since late last year and we're getting good numbers on the track,” club president Luke O'Connor said.
“Dan has been really good — it's nice to have a fresh face around and the guys have responded well to him.”
And although a return to finals footy is the desired destination for the Thunder, O'Connor said a rise up the ranks would ultimately come down to the team's improvement week-to-week.
“You never go into a season not aiming to make finals,” O'Connor said.
“But this season it's difficult to predict where teams are at, so we'll focus on ourselves and do everything in our control so we can perform on the day.”
