Cobram Barooga Business and Tourism Inc (CBBT) in conjunction with Berrigan and Moira Shires, Barooga Sporties, Cobram PALS, YMCA and Valley Sport are thrilled to announce the venues for the 2022 and 2023 Tri State Games.
Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club will be the venue for the swimming events for 201 athletes on Tuesday, November 8, from 10am to 4pm.
The Tri State Games will involve up to 300 athletes with a disability living in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia about 100 coaches, family and support staff.
The games also include athletics track and field, indoor sports such as darts and eight ball, and team sports such as soccer and lawn bowls.
Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club President Dario Prighel said the Channel Road Yarrawonga-located pool was chosen because it is the best pool in Moira Shire.
It will involve a special opening of the pool before its summer season and the club will be prepared for the special Tri State Games.
“We’re very supportive of the games and pleased the swimming events will be held at our pool,” Mr Prighel said.
“It’s great for our club and that the shire has picked our pool. The swimmers will be using Yarra Mul Swimming Club equipment and facilities. We will also provide officials including timekeepers.”
Moira Shire Mayor Libro Mustica said one of the main attractions of the Tri State Games is it offers an opportunity for people with a profound disability to participate in competitive sporting activities in a friendly and supportive environment.
“We hope the athletes will be excited to come to our region,” Mr Mustica said.
The Tri State Games provides disability awareness opportunities to the community hosting the games through the training and inclusion of local volunteers, sporting and service clubs and community groups.
Training for the upcoming Tri State Games is held at Numurkah Indoor Pool on Fridays at 12:30pm.
