Working with Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club, each business chipped in $50 for every dog wearing the number eight vest that won a race during June as part of the ‘Cheer the 8 to make young lives great’ campaign.
Thirteen dogs wearing number eight passed the post in first place throughout the month, taking the total raised to $5200 before some of the sponsors topped the kitty up to reach the $6000 milestone.
Byers Electrical, GV Party Hire, Med Con, CKH Painting, Chenery Plumbing and Shepparton Workwear and Safety were involved in raising the funds.
GRV communication, media, events and marketing manager Brad Williams said the Shepparton club and GRV were proud to have raised so much money.
“We're proud to be associated with the money raised, which will go directly to charity and to young people in need.”
With this campaign hailed a success, GRV and Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club will be holding a Girls’ Night Out event on August 14 to raise more money for Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project.
