Rennie netball

May 16, 2018

It was the first time we have hosted the Kangaroos, and we were anticipating some good competition.

Conditions at the Rennie Recreation Reserve appeared almost ideal, however, the gusty conditions were going to prove to be a challenge for goalers, and scores were moderate compared to previous rounds.
A Grade
Rennie 26 defeated by Deni Rovers 33.
Jedda Nolen was back in the side this week and played another solid game.
She provided the well-needed run through the centre that we needed.
Jedda then swung into defence and teamed up with Lisa Handreck.
The combination gave us the turnovers that saw our third quarter score just three goals down.
Brylee McCarty, Nat Harris and Lexie Nolen worked well in attack.
With a small amount of fine-tuning and some patience in our decision-making, our next few games will be on the improve.
Awards: Yarrawonga Hotel – Lisa Handreck, Judd’s Mensland- Jedda Nolen and Bella Femme Ness – Brylee McCarty
B Grade
Rennie 26 defeated Deni Rovers 22.
First win on the board for Rennie B Grade.
Such a deserving win, for the team who played and worked hard all day.
Shooters worked over time in the windy conditions and defence held strong in and around the ring.
Mid court drove hard all day and made good passing decisions.
Awards: Yarrawonga Hotel - Caitlin O’Dwyer, Lake Mulwala Bakery - Leah Rowe and Bella Pelle - Laura Nunn.
C grade
Rennie 36 defeated by Deni Rovers 41.
After being a couple players short, C Grade knew it was going to be a tall order, but much to their credit, they persisted.
On a very windy day, Deni’s goalers were amazingly accurate, putting our defence under enormous pressure, Tegan held well in goal shooter, gaining some ground for us in the last quarter, to take out that quarter, but unfortunately wasn’t quite enough.
Well done girls on digging deep and never giving up.
Awards: Yarrawonga Hotel –Eden Mackinnon, Wingate’s – Kayla Stevenson and The Naked Tree - Tegan Comber.
C Reserve
Rennie 8 defeated by Deni Rovers 40.
On a less than ideal day for playing netball with strong winds, it was always going to be a difficult game to manage.
Deni proved why they are a good team with strong passing and the ability to adapt to the conditions and convert goals close to the ring.
Emily, Emma and Dee worked hard in the defense end all day gaining multiple rebounds which could only reach the mid-court before making its way back down.
Tight defense from Deni made it hard for our goalers Zoe and Ez, with a score line that certainly did not reflect our endeavour.
Plenty to work on at training and a reminder to adapt to the conditions and lead forward.
Awards: Judd’s Mensland – Zoe Worland, Balance Spin Studio - Emily Stanley, and Yarra Hot Bread - Emma Chessells.

Rennie 28 defeated Deni Rovers 23
The girls came up against their toughest opponents so far this season.
A very tall opposition, with very good skills.  The Hoppers couldn’t get the flow of our game for the first few quarters, to be trailing by six goals at three quarter time.
With some changes and hard work the girls had a brilliant last quarter with an eleven goal turn around to come home with a win by five goals.
So good to see everyone dig deep and play as a team.
Great win girls very proud of you all.
Awards: Arnold/Hall Family – Brooke Bigger, La Porchetta – Charlie Hall and Judd’s – Brooke Knight
Under 13s

Great win by the girls today.

Well done girls.

Windy conditions on Saturday didn’t impede Rennie’s spirit.
All players who shot did a wonderful job scoring goals, with all the girls making good netball decisions on the court.

Social Notes
On Thursday, May 10, Rennie Football Netball Club hosted our annual Mother’s Day Dinner and Raffle.
Although is was a wet and cold evening, it was great to see many of our Netball Mums come and join their daughters for netball training, before sharing in a dinner that had been prepared by some very enthusiastic Dad’s and footballers.
A big thank you to all our sponsors who donated prizes for our raffle, the social committee (Paula Mifka, Jordynn Ednie, Kayla Oughton, Laura Nunn and Zoe Worland) who coordinated the event, and our resident auctioneer, Phil Conway.
