Rochester Fire Brigade lieutenant Chris Nisbet said it took volunteers about 15 minutes to contain the blaze. He credited favourable weather conditions for the quick resolution.
“We’re just lucky it was a nice day and there was no wind, so the grass fire was contained to a fairly small area,” he said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated; however, it is being treated as a one-off incident.
Bamawm Extension, Rochester and Lockington CFA crews attended the scene.
