Gunbower residents will have a chance to see two of the region’s most important natural assets as they have never seen them before.
The North Central Catchment Management Authority is hosting a free Gunbower Creek canoe tour on Monday as part of the government’s National Landcare Program.
North Central CMA project officer Britt Gregory said people knew how important the Gunbower forest and creek were to the community.
‘‘Being on a canoe gives you access to part of the creek and forest most people have never seen before,’’ she said.
‘‘You will also learn about the work we have been doing to protect the internationally significant wetland, and how our flows and pest management programs are helping the creek.’’
The canoe tour will run from 3pm to 5.30pm, starting from Dormoyle Rd, Gunbower.
The tour is open to everyone over the age of eight, and those under 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
Mrs Gregory encouraged everyone to wear comfortable clothing and bring a hat and a water bottle.
‘‘We’ll provide all the equipment, so it is important people register beforehand as places are limited,’’ she said.
