Spate of break-ins

October 13, 2017

Police are investigating a spate of burglaries at Shepparton businesses this week.

More than a dozen Shepparton businesses, homes and commercial buildings have been broken into and burgled in recent days.

Police are investigating the spate of burglaries which started early Wednesday and into yesterday.

‘‘Some of them will be linked ... especially the commercial burglaries,’’ Shepparton police Criminal Investigation Unit Acting Sergeant Cherrie McCaig said.

‘‘It’s something we’re working pretty hard on at the moment.’’

Sgt McCaig could not pinpoint a general location of the incidents as they were ‘‘pretty well spread out’’ around Shepparton.

‘‘A number in the central business district, a few residential homes in Maude St, and some commercial buildings in Florence St and Williams Rd,’’ she said.

‘‘The offenders have smashed windows or removed louvres.’’

Some of the items reported stolen to police include power tools, garden equipment, cash and jewellery.

‘‘All (the incidents) have been straight burglaries, not aggravated burglaries ... including some day-time burglaries,’’ Sgt McCaig said.

‘‘We are following up CCTV footage and any other information that comes our way.’’

Anyone with information should contact Shepparton police.
