Whiley has spent the last three years at Yarrawonga, taking out the club’s best and fairest in his first year with the club in 2017 and told media last week he is excited for the challenge of being senior coach.
“I never thought I’d coach but I’m looking forward to it,” Whiley said.
“It makes it easier with so many good people at the club.”
Whiley has also spent five years in the AFL, playing nine senior matches for Carlton over two years and 12 in three years at Greater Western Sydney.
YFNC President Scott Jaques said the club is “rapt” with Mark’s appointment.
“He’s a quality person with high standards and importantly is respected by the playing group,” Jaques said.
“It’ll be a steep learning curve, but we are excited to see what he brings.
“Again, thanks and well wishes to Secco for his time at the helm. We hope he’ll stay involved in some capacity.”
