“Council supports the state government’s measures that are aimed to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and will adhere to these guidelines which call for the closure of any facilities or services where people can interact with others,” council chief executive officer Tom O’Reilly said.
Changes include the closure of face-to-face transactions at the Cohuna and Kerang customer service centres.
Residents are instead encouraged to contact the council online, by phone or mail.
Libraries, playgrounds, exercise equipment and skate parks across the shire will also be closed, however all council-managed kindergarten and long day care services will continue as normal.

“Please note during this time residents may only leave their home for one of four reasons,” Mr O'Reilly said.
“These are to shop for food and essential goods or services; to provide care, for compassionate reasons or to seek medical treatment; to exercise or for outdoor recreation with your household, or one other person; or for work or study, if you can’t do it from home.
“We all need to play our part to help slow the spread of COVID-19. By staying at home and limiting contact with other people, we can help protect ourselves, our families and our communities at this time.”
Gannawarra Shire Council expects these changes will remain in place until mid-September.
