The Tatura Lions Club organised TatFest, which included live entertainment, a record number of food stalls, abseiling, zorb balls, the army, train rides and more.
Tatura Lions member and TatFest committee president Angelo Torresan said compared to last year’s Tatfest, this year’s numbers were looking strong.
“The weather’s been kind this year – last year it was 44 and a humid year, plus the AFL game was on, so it’s great to see so many people here so early on,” he said.
“We’ve spent a lot of time on it and trying to get it right; not just right for the visitors, but also the stall holders.
“We try and make it safe, family-oriented, good for value and local.”
A range of food from various cultural groups – with some local and others coming up from Melbourne – were available all day, while the line for face painting remained long.
Mr Torresan said listening to Tatura residents, who requested more variety in food stalls, was key in a successful day.
“The whole idea is we’re sponsored by local businesses and other sponsors for a good cause, every dollar counts,” he said.
“Tatura Library needs some funding for its fit-out and I can assure you the Tatura Lions were one of the first businesses to sign themselves up to it.”
