The Lions sit sixth, just one game ahead of seventh-placed Finley with two games to go, and if United can reverse its 22-goal defeat against Mulwala in round five, it could disrupt the final’s race as the Eagles look to finish the season on a high.
Eagles’ coach Jess Saunders said her side had taken the lessons from the brutal encounter at Lonsdale Reserve on board.
“We didn’t have the best result against them on their home turf,” Saunders said.
“I think it’s definitely a side we can contest if we’re in form. It was quite a rough game last time, we ended up with some injuries that lasted a fair few weeks.
“Coming into the end of the season, everyone will be a bit more hunkered down and playing a more focused brand of netball.”
The Eagles look set to welcome back key defender Kaitlyn Rennie, but Remy Day remains under a cloud through illness.
United is coming off a shock defeat to Cobram, but a fast-starting effort could spring a surprise on the visiting Lions.
Meanwhile, Mulwala is aiming to build on its 20-goal win over Barooga last start.
Around the league, the side threatening the Lions top six aspirations, Finley, will face league heavyweight Nathalia in a mission to usurp Mulwala.
Numurkah and Cobram face off in a battle of the bottom two, with the Blues seeking their first win of the season against a Tigers side aiming for its fourth.
Echuca United and Mulwala kick off proceedings at Echuca South Recreation Reserve from 1:30pm this Saturday, August 6.
