The club’s first season was 2011 and since then its best finish has been 12th in 2014, when the club won 10 games and finished two games outside of the top eight.
It has won seven games this season and sits 11th on the ladder, just one win outside the top eight.
Holman, 27, has played 85 games for the club in four seasons and has kicked 45 goals.
He debuted with Carlton in 2014 after being being taken at number 51 in the 2013 national draft and eventually made his way to the Gold Coast via Central Districts in South Australia through the 2018 rookie draft.
Holman has played 14 of a possible 15 games this season and is ranked elite in contested possessions and ground ball gets.
He is above for tackles in the forward 50 and pressure acts.
The Suns face one of the teams it is competing with for a finals place, Collingwood this weekend, before winnable games against Essendon, the Eagles, Hawthorn and the Kangaroos in the run to the wire.
Even with those expected wins, it will be the Suns best return in its history, although another one or two surprise wins will be required to qualify for finals.
