It was another successful weekend of Central Victorian League action for teams from across the region, with all of the sides competing picking up points.

In the League One Men’s competition, the ladder-leading Shepparton South produced another important win, downing Spring Gully 6-0.
South kicked off the contest early through a second-minute Joel Aitken goal, before a Nicholas Mori strike doubled the side’s lead soon after.
From here it was all one-way traffic, with Will Keenan scoring three goals and Mori scoring his second to run out 6-0 victors.
South coach Rob Harmeston said it was a good win against an undermanned Spring Gully.
“We had a couple of chances early on and got a nice early goal,” Harmeston said.
“We had a couple of outs, notably Justin Cirillo with illness so he might be out for a few weeks.
“A few people came in and did well, a few of our reserves boys stepped up this week.”
Harmeston said it was a good time to be around the club but acknowledged there were still a number of big games to go.
One of these big games will be against Tatura, with the Ibises producing another impressive away win on Sunday.
It was a 9-0 day out for the men in red against Strathfieldsaye Colts United, with Zachary Ferlauto, Cody Sellwood and Tristan Zito all scoring two goals and Thomas Corso, Fraser Gosstray and Tim Lardner all striking singles.
Unfortunately it was not three wins from three games on the weekend with Shepparton United held to a draw against Strathdale.
The Saturday evening contest in Epsom started well for United, with the side going a goal up through Benjamin Degraft-Hayford in the first half.
However unfortunately an 85th-minute strike to Strathdale saw the teams share a point.
League Two Men’s side the Shepparton Jaguars had the weekend off, with the side back in action on July 10.
In the League One Women’s competition it was smooth-sailing for Shepparton United with the side picking up a 3-0 forfeit win over FC Eaglehawk.
Meanwhile in the League Two Women’s competition, Tatura picked up an impressive 5-1 win over Echuca-Moama in Moama.
The win, which sees the Ibises move clear on top of the ladder, was a big one and coach Damien Rosella said it was an unbelievable feeling post-game.
“We knew it was a game that we had to win,” Rosella said.
“They were sitting second on the ladder but credit to the girls, they fought out right until the end.”
Colette Suter stood out for the visiting side with the goal-scoring machine hitting the back of the net four times, with Suter joined on the scorers’ list by Schenell Dcosta.
“She (Suter) was everywhere,” Rosella said.
“She was an awesome player and I said at the end of the game when she’s on fire the girls around her step up, we’ve got a pretty balanced side but when she’s on we’re all on.
“We knew that we had to win and we went there and did that so it was a really good effort by the girls.”
