Dressed in either the president’s green or captain’s blue, they played a short course of 18 holes to abide by COVID-19 restrictions.
Captain's duo Sue Turnbull and Lyn Flett won the day with a score of 46.2.
It was only fitting that for a non-traditional year there was a non-traditional celebration, as captain Bev Roberts and president Liz Mulcahy celebrated their first year in the roles.
“I’ve been involved with the club nearly 10 years, I didn’t start until I retired,” Roberts said.
“I was a ‘golf widow’ and once I retired, I thought ‘I better do something because he’ll be here and I’ll be home’, and now I’m here all the time.”
Mulcahy originally picked up golf in 1984, but had a short intermission, returning to the sport a decade later.
While Roberts focuses on administration and the logistics behind golf days and tournaments, Mulcahy is all about sponsorship and the social side of things.
“I try and get sponsorship for every Wednesday competition,” Roberts said.
“I’ll probably continue chasing sponsorship even after I wrap up as president.”
It is tradition for the day — previously two separate days — that the women donate to a local charity or cause.
They chose the Tatura Community House’s Helping Hands’ reverse advent calendar initiative, donating three full boxes to the cause.
