The Roos have recruited former Calder Cannons big man Jacob McNicol to their ranks, with the behemoth standing 198 cm tall while still bringing versatility and mobility to the table.
“He was playing in the ruck with Craigieburn, but we are looking at him in a key forward role at this stage. He should be a great asset,” Girgarre coach Billy Barnes said.
Damian Wild from the Warrnambool area, Jordan Clark, Sam Neill and Byron Dryden (Wonthaggi) have all also agreed to turn out for the Roos next year.
● Merrigum has announced it will have non-playing coach Steve Lawlor in charge again next year.
It will be his third year in the role after stepping up from the reserves post in 2017 when he led the Bulldogs to the premiership.
Experienced John Mathewson will take the coaching reins of the reserves, while premiership coach Darryn Rowney will be in charge of the thirds.
● Stanhope will have its most successful coach, Mark Patten, returning to take the reins again in a joint role with former star player Denis Grinton.
Both were to take a joint role this year from Cobey Aynsley, who has returned to Shepparton East.
Wayne O’Neill has taken over as coach of the Stanhope reserves, while the club is still seeking a thirds coach.
● Corey Carver and Tom Davies have committed to co-coach Lancaster next season.
Davies was to join Carver in the role this season before it was abandoned.
Brad Tinning will coach the reserves and premiership coach Michael Mott will be in charge of the thirds again.
● Murchison-Toolamba has lured Johnny Barnard back to Hopperland, joining from Essendon District league club Rupertswood.
Barnard, whose father played more than 200 senior games for the club, is expected to make a serious impact in the ruck, although he has the ability to play at either end of the ground.
● Tallygaroopna has signed exciting Tocumwal talent Troy Poynton to add some X-factor to its forward line.
The Redlegs have also signed another dynamo in former Deniliquin Rover Nathan Kerr, with the side looking to rebound from its 2019 grand final loss.
● Avenel has also added plenty to its squad with a terrific trio as it looks to take another step forward in its pursuit of a premiership.
The Swans have found some spark for their forward line with Wayne Pavitt, Jordan Zuccala and Dom Russo joining the side.
