While Nagambie is not in a dominant position against Kyabram, it should stave off any potential challengers for sixth spot even with a loss due to the state of the other matches.
Old Students, Central Park-St Brendan's, Waaia and Shepparton United all needed outright victories before the round began, but none are realistically in a position to secure 10 points.
But as we know, anything is possible in 80 overs of cricket.
News sports team Tyler Maher, Alex Mitchell and Aydin Payne take you through each respective round 13 contest and where it stands at the halfway mark.
KATANDRA V KARRAMOMUS
An outright victory is on the cards for Katandra when the second day of its clash with Karramomus begins tomorrow.
The Eagles have already deposited six competition points in their bank vault, but already leading by 58 runs with four wickets in hand, they are every chance of adding another four to their account.
Should they not opt for an aggressive overnight declaration — that would appear every chance — Luke Patel (56 not out) and Nathan Hickey (zero not out) will resume at the crease as the Eagles look to push on from 6-137.
Leading run-scorer Jedd Wright (419 runs at 46.6) is the only gun Katandra has left in the sheds, and it might let the big dog have a smack before pursuing another 10 Blood wickets.
Karramomus will look to improve on last week's batting heroics, where seven players scored three runs or less as it was rolled for a not-so-brilliant 79.
Tim Kelly provided the most resistance last weekend, scoring 38.
NORTHERNERS V OLD STUDENTS
The Jets wanted to show more with the bat this round heading into finals action and two of their batsmen certainly delivered.
Ben Pedretti (67 from 147 deliveries) and Joel Brett (68 from 98) provided the Northerners innings with a strong backbone in the form of a 93-run stand for the fifth wicket.
It allowed the home side at Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve to reach 236 all-out despite solid bowling efforts from Students Nick Breslin (3-30), Callan McCabe (3-45), Tim Looby (2-40) and Liam Callegari (2-80).
Breslin negotiated six overs before stumps alongside Brendan Crouch without loss and the openers will resume on six and zero not out respectively tomorrow needing 228 more runs for victory.
KYABRAM V NAGAMBIE
A desperate Lakers nation will be hoping their A-grade outfit can seal a finals spot tomorrow when they resume day two against Kyabram.
Nagambie has 158 runs to defend against a star-studded batting line-up that is looking to clinch a top-two spot and home ground advantage come the finals.
Kyabram's Billy McLay (52 runs) and Paul Newman (46) were standouts in the Redbacks’ run chase against Numurkah last round.
Meanwhile, Nagambie will be hoping spearhead bowlers Mark Nolan (20 wickets) and Brayden Biggs (19) can put in special efforts in the cut-throat contest.
NUMURKAH V TATURA
Minor premier-elect Numurkah will look to wrap up its regular season campaign with a win against Tatura tomorrow.
At the showgrounds, the Blues would be exceedingly confident they can defend the quality 8-232 they posted last weekend against the Bulldogs, who remain without a win for the season.
Eminently-talented Will Arnel cracked a delicious 58 last weekend, but it will be up to Tatura to find a couple of players to stand up if it is to pull off the most unthinkable win.
Michael Archer (283 runs at 28.3) appears the Tatura talent most likely to guide the chase, while any of Numurkah's spin kings — Shaun Downie, Michael Eckard, Mitch Grandell and Liam Gledhill — could bob up with a bag of wickets.
MOOROOPNA V CENTRAL PARK-ST BRENDAN'S
The Cats will have second spot and a home final at Mooroopna Main Oval on their radar as play resumes tomorrow against the Tigers at the same venue.
Mooroopna needs an outright victory to be assured of rising at least one position on the table from its current third place, and is in the perfect shape to do so.
After rolling the Tigers for 89 on day one — with Henry Barrow (6-37) and Paul Marshall (4-48) bowling unchanged for 17 overs apiece — the Cats reached 5-142 at stumps.
Coach Brad Lowe (46 not out) and captain Sam O'Brien (28 not out) will look to put the foot down with big-hitter Jake Wright still in the sheds before throwing the ball back to Barrow and co to finish the kill.
Ramadan Yze (28), Xavier Chalkley (21), Brendan Scott (2-13) and Charlie Boyer (2-20) worked hard last week for the Tigers and will be called upon again tomorrow.
WAAIA V SHEPPARTON UNITED
Before the first day of play last weekend, Waaia and Shepparton United had high hopes of recording an outright victory to keep their finals chances alive.
But a sublime opening partnership from United duo Keegan Armstrong (76 runs) and Allan Tonks (45) quickly evaporated Waaia's chances of collecting such a result.
Waaia will resume at 0-13 at Waaia Recreation Reserve, after United posted a commanding total of 204 thanks to a 98-run partnership from Tonks and Armstrong.
However, United would still believe it has a chance to claim the 10 points if it can roll through Waaia in quick succession.
The wickets may need to come from promoted bowler Tahir Yaqoobi, who has 31 wickets this season across all grades and spinner Rehan Bari, who claimed an impressive 4-6 in round five.
