The club — that draws juniors from Stanhope, Girgarre and Rushworth — announced the side late last year and has already had strong interest from within the communities.
It will host its season launch on March 4 at Girgarre Recreation Reserve from 5 pm.
The evening will include a ‘'come and try” night, a barbecue and guest speakers including Mooroopna premiership player Allana Adams.
Coach Sarah West — who played in a premiership with Shepparton Bears in 2018 — said she was excited about giving girls a chance to play.
“It's a fantastic opportunity,” West said.
“We're seeing so much growth in the sport, there are chances for people to play the sport they love, but at times it involves a lot of travel.
“Now we have an opportunity for the young girls in our community to be able to play with their local club, with people they know and get the opportunity to stay in the game, which is fantastic.”
West said she was rapt to help provide a pathway for players.
“I played as a junior for a few years,” she said.
“But I had to stop because I was a girl. I was able to play again later as women's football grew, but there wasn't the opportunity originally to keep playing.
“That's the most exciting thing for me — these girls who want to play the game now have the opportunity to learn it and to play.”
Players between the age of 13 and 17 are eligible to take part in youth girls football.
