Star player
Ramadan Yze (Central Park): Is there nothing this man cannot do? Churning out 23 overs with the ball for his two wickets, Yze then demonstrated why he he has been one of the competition’s major players across the past decade by slashing a half century.
Central Park St Brendans have kept its finals dream alive, staying in the hunt for a flag by seeing off Euroa at Memorial Oval on Saturday.
Rolling the Magpies for 151 last week, the Tigers resumed day two at 0/14 and cruised to a five-wicket win before finishing the day at 9/236, and now sit six points off Northerners.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing from the off, with Euroa bagging its first breakthrough instantly as opener Andrew McMillan chipped a Mahesh Priyadarshana delivery straight to Josh Robertson to exit for one.
Unfortunately, that was about as good as it got for the Magpies.
For a little over two hours, Connor Holland put on a classy, composed batting display, which saw the opener reach 70 before falling to Luke Paul.
Despite removing Xavier Chalkley and Jack McCarten for cheap, Euroa faithful could only watch through their fingers as Haisman luminary Ramadan Yze settled in at the crease for another trademark innings.
Pouncing on every loose delivery, the Tigers main man led his side over the line, cranking eight to the fence and one over the ropes as heads dropped within the Magpies camp.
Fellow all-rounder Brendan Scott joined in on the fun, putting 20 on the scoreboard before being caught and bowled, while Yze continued the assault before finally holing out on 59 off 85 balls.
In what would have felt a miserly day for Euroa’s bowlers, a shining light in the innings was Sham Dadallage’s 3-67 off 20 overs, which takes his wicket tally to 16 so far this season.
From Central Park’s perspective, the Tigers will have to topple Waaia if it has any chance of squeezing into finals contention and will have to rely on outside results should it feature in the top six after round 13.
