As well as all four teams locking in their owners and nicknames in the past week, nominations for the draft itself spiked to well more than 100 players hopeful of having their name called out at the Sherbourne Hotel on Sunday.
The four outfits in the first season of the Crane Aid GVBBL will be on the lookout for versatile stars deep into the draft to help them cover all bases in their squads.
The Cobram Panel Works Panthers - fresh from signing second marquee Wian Van Zyl - also have Zimbabwean international cricketer Tarisai Musakanda on board under coach Matt Jaensch.
At the Jarvis Delahey Crushers coaches Chris Keady and Paul Trevaskis have swashbuckling wicketkeeper Josh McDonald in the book as a marquee star already, while SRP Mud Dogs coaches Rohan Larkin and Bryan Doyle have signed Mitch Winter-Irving to captain their side alongside marquee Hamish Winter-Irving.
The Hurley's Hotel Hounds, under coach Paul Newman, announced their starting line-up earliest of the quartet with David Newman captaining the squad and Victorian Premier Cricket guns Tom Donnell and James Nanopoulos leading the charge on the pitch.
But the coaches of each franchise will not be the only selectors involved ahead of the 12.30pm to 5pm draft on Sunday.
The general public will be able to participate in a "Tip the Top 4" competition.
Tipping forms and a list of nominees will be available on draft day for $5 per entry, with the aim of proceedings to pick each of the top four selections in the order they are snared by the franchises themselves.
Getting the number one pick in order with be worth five points down to two for selection four, while one point will be awarded for any top four player in the wrong position - with the winner receiving half the total pool with the other half added to the overall GVBBL prize pool.
Once the dust settles on the draft, attention will turn to the matches themselves.
Round one fixtures pit the Hounds against the Mud Dogs and the Panthers against the Crushers at Barooga Recreation Reserve on January 12, with Kyabram's Northern Oval (January 19) and Deakin Reserve (February 2) hosting the other two sectional rounds.
The umpires and officials making these clashes possible will be sponsored by the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District.
Also on the agenda for keen cricket lovers will be the return of Shepp News Fantasy Sports competition, with the GVBBL edition set to take the venture to the next level.
