A clinical effort in five of its first six sets was enough for Central Park to hold on 5-43 to 4-40 and remain within reach of ladder-leader McEwen Reserve Opal.
It was a tight affair right from the get-go, with the Parkers’ Neil Evans and Luke Bergman overcoming Geoff Akers and Ayden Graham 6-5.
And the classy effort from teammates Elizabeth Pottenger and Andrea Graham against Samantha Exell and Debbie Hosie (6-5) helped clinch the round five win.
Despite winning the last three sets of the match, White was unable to come away with the win.
McEwen Reserve Opal strengthened its position on top of the ladder with a resounding 6-44 to 3-30 win against Old Students.
It wasn't the best start by the ladder-leader, with Tim Comer and Tannar Hunter suffering a 5-6 loss to Jake Sprunt and Aaron Plant.
Opal went on to win the next set, which started a string of back-and-forth results.
Old Students led 3-2 heading into the final four matches, however, coughed up all four set points with Heather Thomson and Justin Hunter clinching the final match of the tie.
Shepparton North was too strong for Karramomus (8-52 to 1-22) and Lemnos powered past St Brendan's (7-49 to 2-27) to clinch its first win of the season.
● Meanwhile at A2-A3-A4 level, Shepparton North Red has firmed its grip on the competition with a gritty 5-43 to 4-41 win against Murchison.
After eight sets, the scores were tied 4-4, with the final mixed doubles match the eventual decider.
Luckily for Shepparton North Red, Jessica Dowell and John Kriesfeld were able to defeat Jacob Ewart and Deb Adams 6-4 to seal a memorable one-set victory.
Shepparton North Gold followed in the footsteps of its clubmate, after it clinched a narrow 5-43 to 4-32 win against Undera Maroon.
St Andrew's saluted against McEwen Reserve Blue 6-51 to 2-20, while McEwen Reserve Green toppled Karramomus 6-44 to 3-27 and Central Park thrashed Bunbartha 7-50 to 2-30.
In the remaining fixture, Old Students registered a clinical performance against Undera White to record an 8-51 to 1-22 win.
