After a season devoted to development of the young Magpies list, the club overwhelmingly endorsed continuing on the path by reappointing Eldridge as coach.
Eldridge, in his second stint as coach of the club after co-coaching the 2010 premiership, said he was excited to continue the development plan put in place in the lead up to this season.
“I'm really looking forward to 2020," Eldridge said.
“The win-loss of our season was pretty disappointing in 2019, there is no way around that. But we are really excited with the progress we made as a team, and it will be great to see it continue into next year.
“We've been able to retain most of our players, particularly the younger guys, and everyone is already keen to get started.
“We've begun planning for our pre-season, we've got a few players lined up who we want on board our football club, so we are in a really good position and are looking forward to next year.”
Moama president David Grubb said it was a simple decision for the club.
“It was a really easy for us," Grubb said.
“Luke has done a lot of great work this year with our young list and I think we are going to see the benefits of that coming through in the next year or two.
“The kids who have been thrown into the deep end in the past year or so are going to be much better for it and we expect them to come along really well.”
Moama finished the season with just two wins, but Grubb said all the signs out of the club was that it was on the right track.
“They played a lot of really good football at stages of the year," he said.
“They didn't always get the results they probably deserved — they played a few games where they could easily have won — but a lot of that comes with experience, and we saw by the way Luke guided them throughout the year that he was the guy to take them forward.”
Eldridge said the development of the young guns would be key for the Magpies going forward.
“The challenge was always to retain young players, but we have been able to. Once we get another year into them, more experience with a pre-season and a gym program, their football is going to massively improve and it's going to be great for our football club.”
